Expert independent foodservice suppliers, Woodward Foodservice has focused on indulgent desserts as part of its new product selection this year, as it believes the scrumptious end to a meal will be the margin improver for Christmas 2010. The specialist wholesaler has cherry picked an exciting collection – picked from the very best brands in the industry – to provide customers with a range of quick to serve, minimal wastage desserts.
Woodward’s product selection team has also handpicked a new range of buffet, starters and main course offerings that consumers will be unable to refuse.
Jeremy Woodward, managing director of Woodward Foodservice said: “With consumers currently cutting back to two, or even one course meals throughout the year, caterers are finding it difficult to keep up margins in turn for profit. However with Christmas a typically indulgent time, Woodward’s product development team has sourced the best, and most cost effective desserts on the market.
“The selection we have chosen, from delicious cheesecakes, to cakes and gateau, are bound to get the taste buds flowing this Christmas and help independents claw back on margins previously lost on desserts during the rest of the year. In particular, our focus has been on multi-portion for minimal wastage and ease, luxury desserts with a twist, and options that taste as good cold as they do hot – providing as much flexibility as possible.”
Woodward predicts its new products, Aulds Knicker Bocker Glory Gateau, Chantilly Minty Chocolate Cheesecake, Sidoli Cranberry Rocky Road and Chantilly White and Dark Chocolate Tear, to be best sellers this year.
Aulds Knicker Bocker Glory Gateau gives a classic childhood favourite a modern twist with its crunchy brandy snap biscuit base topped with layers of raspberry and peach mousse, stubbed with Madeira cake chunks and squirts of a melba sauce. It is decorated with ribbons of strawberry flavour cream and finished with a brandy snap crumb and white chocolate sticks.
Chantilly Minty Chocolate Cheesecake will be as good before eight as after. It comprises a chocolate brownie base with a minty cheesecake filling and chocolate curls, finished with a chocolate glaze, swirls of cream and mint chocolate wafers.
The festive looking Sidoli Cranberry Rocky Road is pre-portioned for quick plate assembly and minimal wastage. The rich fudge brownie baked with chocolate and pecan nuts, topped with mini marshmallows, cranberries and chocolate chunks turns into a completely different dish when heated, so can be served cold over the counter or as a warm dessert.
Chantilly White and Dark Chocolate Tear is individually portioned and designed for quick and easy plating, making it ideal for event catering. The dessert is a layer of dark Belgian chocolate truffle, topped with a light white chocolate mousse, finished with dark chocolate curls and a light dusting of cocoa.
Woodward’s new desserts sit alongside its buffet, starter, main course and non-food offerings which also includes new products, as well as seasonal favourites and essentials. The full range provides a one-stop-shop for customers’ Christmas menu.
