Committees

The Annual General Meeting is held each November for the purpose of electing the President and Vice-President for the coming year, electing the Federation's Auditors and electing the T&L Committee and the Audit Committee members.  The AGM also formally adopts the Federation's annual accounts.

The DG Briefing is a unique opportunity for Brian Young to provide an update on the Federation's activities that are pertinent to all committee members such as the Consumer and Foodservice Promotion Campaigns, activities to recruit new members, updates on strategy.

The DG Briefing also provides an opportunity for committee members to raise and discuss any issues that they feel affect the broader membership.

Committee members from the PIB Committee, WD Committee and Executive Council are eligible to attend the DG Briefing.

Executive Council meets to approve policy, agree and review the Federation's strategy, approve arrangements for Governance of the Federation, approve the Budget and subscription levels, to review financial performance against the Budget and to monitor operational performance against agreed outputs and other measurement criteria. Executive Council consists of the President, Vice-President, Chair, Vice Chair and 3rd sector representative from the two sector committees, the Chair and Vice-Chair of the T&L Committee, Past Presidents who remain active in the industry and Honorary Life Members.

The H&S Working Group provides a confidential health and safety forum to focus on issues relevant to the industry, enabling the dissemination of pertinent H&S information to members.
Aims

  • To highlight the relevant frozen food industry health and safety information for BFFF focus.
  • To highlight relevant frozen food industry health and safety issues for possible BFFF involvement.
  • To advise on any initiatives that BFFF should take particular interest.
  • To facilitate networking amongst the different sectors of the Federation.
  • To contribute to the consultation process on proposed legislation, new regulations, codes of practice, guidance notes etc.
  • To contribute to the LAPS and HSE warehousing forum meetings .
  • To facilitate the dissemination of relevant information to the BFFF members following the LAPS and HSE Warehousing forum meetings.
  • Assist in developing appropriate links with government, regulatory bodies and other relevant organisation.

The objective of the Producer/Importer/Broker (PIB) Annual Sector Meeting is to re-elect committee members for the forthcoming year as per the Rules and also to elect any new candidates who have been nominated.

Representing members from the Producer Importer Broker sector of our industry, the committee provides a forum to enable members to raise industry issues and also to contribute the view of the PIB sector to help BFFF decide strategy and action. The Producer/Importer/Broker Committee enables members to raise sector issues for the Federation to act upon and also to contribute the view of the PIB sector to pertinent issues. There is also a unique opportunity for the committee to liase and network with the Wholesale Distribution Committee to the benefit of both BFFF and the membership as it can enable issues affecting both sectors of membership to be discussed openly and effectively. The Chair, Vice-Chair and 3rd sector representative also serve on Executive Council. The Technical & Legislative Committee maintains scrutiny of incoming information regarding legislative and technical developments from Brussels, the UK and other sources. The Committee informs and advises Executive Council to assist with determining Federation policy in technical and legislative areas. Uniquely, members of this Committee represent production, wholesaling and retailing activities. Their assessment of the impact of forthcoming legislation enables effective lobbying and influence in matters which could otherwise adversely affect the bottom line of member companies. Membership of the T&L Committee is eligible to member companies who representatives can demonstrate a technical knowledge and overall knowledge of trade subjects and have substantial experience at a senior level within the industry.
