RICHMOND SCOOPS ANOTHER BFFF 'PRODUCT OF THE YEAR' AWARD

At a Presentation Ceremony held at a Gala Dinner Dance at the London Hilton Hotel on the 13th June, the British Frozen Food Federation announced that the winner of the Retail Product of the Year Award for 2002 IS "MILFINA" TEMPTATIONS PREMIUM HONEYCOMB CRUNCH ICE CREAM from RICHMOND FOODS PLC FOR ALDI.

Independent market analysts Datamonitor reckon that consumers are looking for ‘treats’ to combat the stress of modern life.  Whilst ‘treating’ has been around for a few years, manufacturers and retailers have driven ‘treating’ through a redefinition of the boundaries between premium and mass market, to create mid-market ‘affordable premium’ products.  Retailers particularly have played an important part in bringing premium products to a wider range of consumer groups and driving a cultural trend towards frequent self-indulgence.

In an incredibly competitive ice cream market Richmond continue to find the balance between genuine innovation and providing value for money under own label. And their new product development teams seem to know no bounds. There is no doubt that success in the ice cream market revolves around demographics and the ever changing aspirations of consumers in the ice cream and confectionery market place.  To see Richmond developing this product long before the Datamonitor report about ‘treating’ came out illustrates their prowess in market research into their specialised market place.

Richmond Foods, celebrating their fourth successive 'Retail Product of the Year' Award, impressed the panels of consumers with this product consisting of temptingly tasty honeycomb flavour dairy ice cream with a toffee ripple and milk chocolate pieces with honeycombed centres.  Aldi sell the product under their ‘Milfina’ label at a very tempting £1.69 for a half litre bringing consumers a real treat.  Own label masters Richmond have done it again.
